Amanda Vencatasamy is a Dublin-based artist whose practice centres on sculptural, wall-based textile works. Born in London to Mauritian parents and now living in Ireland, her work is informed by lived experiences of cultural in-betweenness, identity, and belonging. She studied at Camberwell College of Arts in London, and Fine Art Sculpture at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, and her practice sits between contemporary art and applied craft.
Working primarily with an electric tufting gun, Vencatasamy creates bold, tactile works she describes as painting with wool. Her pieces draw on colour, form, and material experimentation, resulting in modern-day tapestries that are playful in appearance while carrying emotional depth.
Her work has been exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy Annual Exhibition (195th), the Royal Ulster Academy Annual Exhibition (144th), The Other Art Fair (London), Art Source (Dublin), and the Design Ireland Pop-Up at Arnotts (Dublin), Leitrim Design House (Leitrim), and Craft NI (Belfast).
Through her practice, Vencatasamy creates work that invites a slower, more tactile engagement, encouraging viewers to connect with material, memory, and shared human experience.
